The potential for something great

As of the writing of this article, the Old Customs House is currently not open as is very much under renovation. However, keep an eye on this spot as it’s planned to be renovated into a Langham Hospitality Group hotel. For now, the Old Customs House inclusion on this list is for a few different reasons. It’s a historical landmark that was built in the late 1800’s. The area around it is great for photography. It’s located in Charoen Krung so there are plenty of eateries and cafes nearby. It’s also a great place for contemporary art as multiple galleries are in the area.

9. Wat Kalayanamit | Riverside Spots in Bangkok

A great stop for tourists looking for a nice riverside temple to visit

A historic temple dating back to the early 1800’s, Wat Kalayanamit is a temple located along the Chao Phraya River. It’s very famous for having the largest Buddha image in Bangkok. Along with the largest statue, Wat Kalayanamit also exalts some Chinese deities as well, showing Bangkok’s older Chinese roots.

This is the place to visit if you’re looking to peruse some of the best contemporary art exhibits in Bangkok! River City is a large art center that constantly has revolving exhibits featuring contemporary artists from Thailand and other parts of the world! The first two floors are dedicated to contemporary art exhibits, while the upper floors host different shops that sell antiques!

6. Yodpiman Riverwalk | Riverside Spots in Bangkok

A nice waterfront dining and shopping promenade

The lesser known of Bangkok’s boardwalks. While not as glitzy or glamorous as Asiatique, Yodpiman Riverwalk is more than serviceable. There are plenty of places to eat, and the boardwalk also offers great views of nearby temples from across the Chao Phraya. Also nearby is the Yodpiman Flower market which is also worth a visit.
