James Harrison Wilson Thompson, or Jim Thompson for short, was an American businessman. He helped revitalize the Thai silk industry and at the time of his living was one of the most famous Americans living in Asia until his mysterious disappearance in 1967.

Still, his home and art collection can still be found in Bangkok. Jim was an avid collector of Southeast Asian art including Buddhist statues, Thai paintings, works from Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar, Chinese porcelain and much more!

River City is one of the pinnacles of art exhibition spaces in Bangkok. This massive art center can be easily found as it’s right across the Chao Phraya River of our top rated mall, ICONSIAM. The ultimate art viewing experience. MOCA is a massive art center dedicated to Thailand’s most popular contemporary art. Many of their displayed art pieces are created by the grandmasters of the Thai contemporary art scene.

While labelled as a contemporary art museum, you can also find traditional works here too. MOCA is the best bang for your buck art gallery experience and you can easily spend an entire day here due to the quantity and quality of their selection and exhibits.
