Malls are beginning to diminish in some countries due to delivery services. That certainly isn’t the case for Thailand! Bangkok’s mall scene only continues to flourish! This list covers the Top 10 malls in Bangkok where you might find yourself wandering should you ever find yourself in Thailand’s cosmopolitan capital.
10. Fortune Town & Central Rama 9
Tech heaven for electronic aficionados with an archetypal shopping mall right across
Bangkok has lost its tech edge since the revamping of Panthip Plaza. Fortunately, Fortune Town is still around to take the top spot for all of your electronic needs! This electronic shopping center can be found on the Rama 9 MRT (subway). Stop by to get your notebook fixed, find yourself a new mobile phone (or a used one), buy some DVDs (or some bootlegs cough) and more!
If your tech needs are satiated, then you can cross over to Central Rama 9 where you can quite literally find everything else!

9. Platinum Fashion Mall
It’s not about how expensive it looks, but how well you can accessorize
A bit further away from the BTS Skytrain and MRT Subway is the very fashionable Platinum Fashion Mall. This shopping center is completely clothes-centric as floor after floor is designated toward men and women’s fashion, with the top floor being for accessories. This is probably the best place in Bangkok to find something off the rack, so even though it isn’t close to the typical public transport venues, it’s well worth the visit!

8. MBK Center
An old classic that has stood the test of time
Mahbunkrong Center, or MBK has been around since 1985. If you ever visit, you’ll definitely get the feeling that it’s been around! It doesn’t have the luxurious aesthetic of the other shopping centers around Bangkok, but that’s all the more reason to shop here. MBK is a taste of old Bangkok before all of the gentrification. Despite attempts to revamp this venerable mall, it still carries the Bangkok that some veterans yearn for.
Even the offerings within the mall differ from typical shopping centers. Expect to find a floor here dedicated to fake brand name watches, and also a floor completely meant for used phones!

7. CentralWorld
Expect to get lost in this massive shopping complex
This is not a place to explore for those that are aerobically challenged. CentralWorld is a massive shopping complex and ranks as 9th largest in the world. This mall likely has exactly what you need but you’re going to have to work toward getting to it!
This shopping center comes equipped with a hotel overlooking the city (Centara Grand), a variety of excellent food options, department stores, an abundance of retail stores, and more!

6. One Bangkok
This newest shopping offering is another city within a city
Located across from Sathorn on the eternally congested Rama IV Rd., One Bangkok is a new player in Bangkok’s mall scene.
As of the writing of this article, it’s still new enough to warrant widespread interest and attention, but still too new to really be able to pinpoint how it stands compared to the other excellent shopping options in Bangkok.
It’s certainly a versatile complex, as it houses five office towers, three hotels/service apartment towers, interconnected retail podiums, arts and cultural venues, and plenty of plaza and landscaped green space.
While still early in it’s opening, it most certainly has the potential to be a top contender for one of the best shopping centers in all of Bangkok Metropolitan.

5. Emporium & EmQuartier
Two of the three Ems that represent old and new luxury
Emporium and EmQuartier are the cornerstones of Phrom Phong district, being directly located at the Phrom Phong BTS Skytrain. Emporium was once one of Bangkok’s luxury center forerunners, opening in 1997. Like MBK, it has a more dated feel to it even with the revamps, but unlike MBK you’ll get a more gentrified and commercial atmosphere. Here, you’ll find the dignified and distinguished experience of older money.
EmQuartier is the opposite and to the opposite of Emporium, where youthful exuberance is more commonly found here. While still maintaining its luxurious persona, EmQuartier’s allure is to draw in a more vigorous luxury shopping crowd.
Both entities have their share of retails stores, Gourmet Markets for groceries, top floor cinemas, and more. EmQuartier though has the Helix Dining section which houses a far superior selection of restaurants for fine dining, something that Emporium definitely lacks in comparison.

4. Siam Paragon
A shining paragon in this list of shopping malls
The ultimate Bangkok shopping complex! Siam Paragon is the gold standard with which developers use when working on building the next great Thai mall. Siam Paragon will always top any Bangkok malls list due to its beautiful aesthetic, amazing retail selection, and central commercial location.
Siam Paragon has a bit of everything at the highest quality. Fine dining, and luxury retail shops are just a few of the things that this shopping center does extremely well! Not only is the mall a place to visit, but the entire Siam district where it’s located is also well worth exploring. Next to Siam Paragon is another multi-level retail center, Siam Discovery. Across the street is Siam Square which houses plenty of smaller shops as well as Lido Connect, a multifunctional performance center.
The entire Siam area is so popular that you can expect it to be plenty crowded no matter which part of it you’re in. So prepare to push through for the ultimate shopping experience!

3. Terminal 21
Take a flight to this airport themed galleria
Terminal 21 beating Siam Paragon? How?!
I’ll tell you how. This prime located mall is reached by both the MRT subway (Sukhumvit) and BTS skytrain (Asoke) lines. It has an excellent mix of affordable retail stores, and restaurant options. The food court is probably the best out of all of the malls on this list. It’s big enough to get perfect mileage on your shopping adventure, but not so big that you’ll get lost inside. The airport theme, while corny to some, adds some character rather than the tried and tired luxury mall complex.
There are plenty of reasons why Terminal 21 is at the top of the list, but the main draws are its accessibility, and affordability. So while Paragon may be the gold standard for luxury, Terminal 21 is the standard for shopping done right.

2. The EmSphere
I’m hungry just thinking about the food offerings here
Most malls are designed for their restaurants to be located at the higher levels so that shoppers view and visit more retail stores on their trek upward. Not EmSphere though, this bold shopping center has all of its amazing dining options on the ground and first floor! On these two floors are fantastic choices like Akira Back Bangkok, The Siam Tea Room, and Bianca Italian Restaurant. You can even find a Gordon Ramsay restaurant here (Bread Street Kitchen & Bar).
Food isn’t the only thing that’s unique about The Emsphere. Ikea was once only found moving further away from the city center toward Bang Na, but now it can be found right at The Empshere in Phrom Phong.
Even though it’s a newer addition to the list of Bangkok malls, The Emsphere gets high marks for its overall uniqueness, and amazing food options which help it stand out amongst its other shopping competitors!

1. ICONSIAM
The quintessential Bangkok shopping experience
This is it. If you’re in Bangkok to shop then this is the place that you just have to visit. Located along the Chao Phraya River in Charoen Nakhon is the beacon of Bangkok’s mall selection.
ICONSIAM ticks every checkbox when it comes down to why it’s the best experience for shopping. While incredibly upscale, it’s still a mall that everyone can shop in. There are wonderful contrasts between the antiquated and modern as the ground floor food section resembles that of a Thai floating market. The upper floors are the more typical of the contemporary shopping center, but tastefully designed to match the opulence of the higher end complexes, while somehow maintaining its appeal to visitors from any demographic.
